OVERVIEW:

HEAVY-DUTY DEMOLITION REQUIREMENTS

A contractor had to complete the demolition of a bridge in downtown Denver for a DOT project within a 56-hour time frame due to the closing of the interstate from Friday evening until the Monday morning rush hour. Due to the narrow window, they had to ensure the uptime of equipment with hydraulic quick couplers that would stand up to the rigorous application and allow quick changeover of attachments without failure.

Our solution with the VEPHDL, heavy-duty, threaded flat-face coupler, provided the solution they needed and allowed for an early completion of the project.

CHALLENGE:

TIMELY COMPLETION

Completing the project on time meant the difference between a profitable operation or a $50,000 per hour fine if late. In addition to ensuring maximum equipment uptime, they rented additional equipment from an equipment rental dealer and had to ensure interchangeability with quick couplers to prevent any unforeseen setbacks leading to downtime.

They needed heavy-duty, hydraulic quick couplers that would consistently perform during the entire two days of heavy hammering and attachment changeovers, with the right PORT connections and without fail.

SOLUTION:

VEPHDL HEAVY-DUTY QUICK COUPLER

Our quick coupling specialist, Mike Bauer, formed a relationship with our client as well as the equipment supplier to troubleshoot and provide total product and process support. We ensured that the VEPHDL would provide complete interchangeability with their multi-function excavator, the rented equipment, and attachments.

The Stucchi Solution – the VEPHDL Series provided reliable, failsafe hydraulic solutions with complete interchangeability.

Mike asked the important questions about the project, the tools in use, made sure that the contractor had the required extra sets of couplers for easy changeover of attachments and provided tips and recommendations for plumbing solutions.

RESULTS:

MET REVENUE AND PROFITABILITY GOALS

The contractor completed the bridge demolition ahead of schedule and secured future projects with the DOT as Denver has plans to replace more interstates, to widen roads, and build underpasses. By working closely with the contractor and the equipment dealer, this three-way execution by our solutions specialist ensured the coordination of all parties for the successful completion of the project.

BENEFITS:

By utilizing Stucchi’s VEPHDL heavy-duty, locking quick coupler, this contractor was able to:

  • complete the project ahead of schedule
  • meet revenue goals and secure future projects
  • meet environmental and safety goals with leak-free performance
