NPT stands for National Pipe Thread Tapered and is one of the most common types of port options in the U.S. ANSI/ASME B1.20.1 is the U.S. standard referenced for measuring tapered threads on threaded fittings and pipes. The taper rate for all NPT threads is 1/16 – 3/4-in per foot, measured by the change in diameter over distance.
